• Should have a D.Phil degree or its academic equivalent, in any of the areas/fields of specialization indicated in the above named departments.
• Must have at least 4 years of teaching or research experience at University level since becoming Lecturer.
• Must have a minimum of 4 publications in refereed journals since appointment as a Lecturer.

OR

• Must have a Masters degree plus 5 years of University teaching experience after becoming a Lecturer and 5 Publications since becoming Lecturer.
• Should normally have supervised post- graduate degree candidates.
• Should have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars or workshops.
• Should show evidence of membership of professional societies.
• Should show evidence of continued research and evaluated effective teaching.
• Should show evidence of contribution to University life through active participation in departmental matters, student’s academic advising, School and University meetings committee membership and others.
• Should be recognized and registered or registerable by relevant professional board.

• Must have a Masters degree in addition to a first degree from a recognized academic institution plus at least 2 years of teaching experience at University level after obtaining a masters degree and at least two publications in refereed journal(s).

Assistant Lecturer -Scale Mu 11 (Xi)

• Must normally have a first degree and a Masters degree, in the relevant field plus at least one (1) year post qualification experience in a teaching or research institution
• Should not normally teach postgraduate students.
• Should continue to demonstrate potential for University teaching research by registering for a D.Phil degree and/or producing publications.

Technical Assistant I - Scale Mu 6 (Vi)

Job Description
Work at this level will entail:

• cleaning of glassware and apparatus for teaching and research;
• dusting of all equipment used for teaching and research;
• ensuring the storage of chemicals in clean, well labeled shelves arranged in order;
• and performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Job Specification for Direct Appointment
For appointment to this grade an officer must have:-

• Advanced Laboratory Certificate from a recognized institution;
• At least three (3) years work experience
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results;

Job Specification for Serving Officers
For appointment to this grade an officer must have:-

• Served in the grade of Technical Assistant II for at least three (3) years;

Senior Assistant Dean Of Students - Scale 13 (Xiii)

Job Description
An officer at this level will be responsible to the Deputy Dean of Students.
Work at this level will entail;

• Providing parental supervision and direction to students;
• Raising the level of students educational and cultural awareness;
• Providing opportunity to explore educational career interests;
• Facilitating informal contacts with faculty and administrative staff;
• Contributing to development through group interactions and opportunity for leadership experiences and helping in planning and engaging them in productive leisure experiences; developing a sense of community belonging within the halls of Residence;
• Participating inbuilding self confidence, assertiveness and respectability in students as well as inoculate them on their sexual responsibility and helping to maintain discipline within the halls of residence.

Job Specification for Direct Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

• Served in the grade of Assistant Dean of Students or in a comparable and relevant position for at least three (3) years.
• Masters Degree in either Education or social sciences or equivalent qualification from recognized institution.
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
• PhD is an added advantage.

Job Specification for Serving Officers
To advance to this position, one should have:

• Masters Degree in Social Sciences, Education, Psychology or its equivalent from a recognized University.
• At least three (3) years work experience as an Assistant Dean of Students
